In the late 19th century, Milwaukee’s now-famous sporting spirit began to take shape. The Milwaukee Athletic Club, established in 1882, became a cornerstone for promoting various sports in the city. Around the same time, cricket matches were a common sight, reflecting the city’s mixed sporting interests (due to its diverse immigrant communities). Baseball’s Roots in MKE
Baseball quickly became a focal point in Milwaukee’s sports scene. The city was home to several teams named the “Brewers” long before the current MLB franchise.
